Spectrum was developed in collaboration with fellow audio visual artist Kieran Warner-Hunt for Sydney's Vivid 2017 festival.
The Spectrums of light and sound are often perceived as being separate entities, but in reality they have many similarities, they are both fundamentally created by the movement of particles in space. From this we can draw similarities and find overlaps between them.
Spectrum is an invitation for audience members to become part of a light and sound performance and explore these relationships.
Spectrum is an interactive installation of light and sound in the form of a dynamic laser sculpture and a live modular synth performance. The laser projects light beams into a smoke enclosure, making 3d forms that are derived from the synth performance. Audience members can step forward and interact with the light sculpture using body movements and the colour of their clothing.
